Happy St. Patrick's Day from The Forgotten Horses
Besides my passion for the Mustangs, I enjoy Irish Dancing. I have been a dancer for 9 years with Kathy Nelson, Rose and Sword Academy of Irish Dancing and have competed in many events.
Girl Scouts National Young Women of Distinction
I am very excited to say that I have been nominated for this exceptional honor by the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast as one of three nominations to GSUSA. I will also be receiving the Helen Kattwinkle Gold Award Scholarship.
Every year, ten exceptionally inspiring Gold Award Girl Scouts are chosen as National Young Women of Distinction (NYWOD). This honor is given to Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors whose Gold Award projects demonstrated extraordinary leadership, had a measurable and sustainable impact, and addressed a local challenge related to a national and/or global issue. These young women are taking matters into their own hands, generating much-needed change!

Girl Scout Gold Award Approval
On the 7th of February 2018, I received approval for my Girl Scout Gold Award, "The Forgotten Horses" which is the Girl Scout's highest honor and achievement. The Gold Award requires the girls to identify an issue in the community and carry out a Take Action project to address the matter through leadership work. Nationwide, less than 6 percent of eligible Girl Scouts the honor.
THE MISSION
I am on a mission to provide public awareness of the different strains of the Colonial Spanish Mustangs, America's Forgotten Horses, and to protect them from endangerment. This documentary stems from my love of this breed.
It all began in 2013 when I adopted Katalina, a Corolla Spanish Mustang, who had to be removed from the wild. With the assistance of my mentors and project advisors, I made a film addressing the issue of public awareness of the different strains of the Colonial Spanish Mustangs.
I learned about the benefits of the breed and action steps to help save "The Forgotten Horses" from endangerment by interviewing expert horse-people who have experience in breeding and protecting these gentle creatures and learning from them. The Mustangs are endangered for many reasons, including habitat destruction and breeding practices. It is my hope that you will learn about these beautiful animals and their innate ability to comfort all people: disabled people, people suffering from trauma, people who have a disease or special condition, and the importance of protecting them from extinction. Colonial Spanish Mustangs, America's Forgotten Horses, can teach us valuable life lessons! So, I hope that you will take action to protect them.
